Adding/Editing Hosts

Before GXSNMP can do any useful work you will need to add some objects to its database. In this section we will describe the process you will use to add hosts to the GXSNMP database. A host in GXSNMP's term is a collection of interfaces. As you will see a GXSNMP host object can have multiple interfaces. As you already discovered each interface can have its own unique SNMP configuration.

When you first go to add a new host to GXSNMP you will be presented with the rather intimidating dialog in Figure 4. To get to this dialog there is a few things you can do.

The add host dialog only looks intimidating as you will see, it has been logicly split up into panels of relevant information. We will discuss each panel in turn and by the end of this section you will see each panel is needed.
